Dhaka Medical College Hospital was established as a 250 bedded general hospital in 1946. British WJ Major Virgin was the first Superintendent of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Since then DMCH is a pioneer in undergraduate Medical Education and the largest service-providing hospital in this country. Subsequently, it has been converted into 1800 bedded tertiary-level hospital. Now it is 2300 bedded tertiary level hospital. 300 beds is for Burn Unit. Every day all types of patients from different corners of Bangladesh are reported to this hospital to get better management. We have all the specialty/sub-specialty of Medical science in this hospital. Almost all modern investigation facilities are also available.
